Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies, and the development of democratic institutions worldwide.
DRI has supported Ukraine’s democratic transformation since 2014 through an office in Kyiv. Our focus has been on political education, youth participation as well as on awareness-raising on constitutional/judicial reforms, decentralisation and democracy and rule of law issues.
In 2020-2021, DRI aims to carry on this work through a dedicated project focused on youth engagement, CSO capacity building in the (south) east of Ukraine, and rule of law issues concerning the post -COVID-19 environment.
To help drive this work, DRI is currently recruiting a full-time Project Coordinator for its Country Office in Kyiv, Ukraine. We are in search of an experienced professional with excellent programme management skills in the democratic development sector, and with the ability to fit into DRI’s culture of delivery, excellence, impact and teamwork.
Your tasks
In collaboration with, and under the supervision of the Country Director – Ukraine, you will oversee and contribute to the entirety of the project cycle, while ensuring compliance with donor commitments, internal DRI policies and the objectives of the DRI Ukraine office.
More specifically, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Supporting coordination (where necessary) between the donor, DRI and consultants/ experts and managing the implementation of project activities and expert deliverables.
- Leading on designated activities (project’s training component), including development of concept notes and agendas and coordinating activity logistics with the administration team.
- Ensuring that gender mainstreaming is applied throughout the project management cycle and within the country office.
- Supporting and delivering on production of reports and infographics based on the data.
- Representing DRI at relevant events and meetings.
- Leading on designated activities’ monitoring and evaluation, including preparation of reports, reviewing feedback and tracking outputs.
- Contributing to implementation of other project activities, including research, technical/political briefings to decision-makers and workshops.
- Contributing to project budgets and financial reporting, in cooperation with the Finance, HR and Administration Coordinator and DRI HQ Finance Unit, as well as ensuring that procurement is carried out in accordance with DRI standard practices and donor regulations.
- Supporting the Country Director in risk management tasks.
- Other relevant duties, as required.
Your skills and experience
Required:
- Master’s Degree in political/social sciences, public administration, development, or a related field;
- At least five years of relevant/progressive professional experience managing projects related to democracy development, governance or related fields, trainings, citizen participation, human rights, preferably in an international NGO;
- Sound knowledge of international democracy and human rights standards.
- Strong administrative track record, including financial management.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English and Ukrainian – Russian an asset.
- An entrepreneurial start-up mind-set, with an ability to get things off the ground quickly.
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team.
- The ability to travel inside Ukraine (if security allows).
Preferred:
- Experience with international non-profit organisations.
- Background in local governance and civil society focused projects.
- Experience in implementing training activities.
