DRI is currently recruiting a full-time Project Coordinator for its Country Office in Lebanon. Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, you will:

 

Your Tasks:

  • Co-designs and leads the implementation of all project activities, such as events, workshops, trainings, and publications;
  • Monitors and reports on the implementation of project activities, updates the project workplan accordingly, and is responsible for internal and donor reporting on relevant projects through writing and researching for weekly and narrative reports;
  • Monitors and reports on political, social and legal developments relevant to the projects;
  • Coordinates engagement and project delivery with DRI partners and stakeholders;
  • Coordinates with the Finance Unit when planning deliverables and signs off on project expenditures not exceeding 500 EUR in accordance with the project budget;
  • Travels in the different regions of Lebanon to ensure sound implementation of project activities;
  • Develops Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks and tools, analyses project data and compiles MEL reports in accordance with DRI’s MEL and donor guidelines and in close coordination with the Project & MEL Officer;
  • Ensures gender and diversity mainstreaming in the implementation of all project activities and project monitoring;
  • Supports the Country Representative on programme development as well as the design and implementation of project frameworks and grant/proposal writing;
  • Supports in reviewing DRI publications and research outputs, including liaising with external experts and consultants;
  • Supports the Country Representative in outreach activities involving key stakeholders such as donor organisations, civil society partners, public officials, academia and media actors;
  • Closely coordinates with the Communications Unit in the development and implementation of outreach and advocacy activities;
  • Drafts project concept notes and activity concepts to provide detailed planning for each project activity;
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Your Skills and Experience:

     Required:

  • University degree in social sciences, political science, public administration, development studies, public policy, law or a related field;
  • At least 4–5 years of experience in project coordination involving fieldwork and effective coordination with a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, e.g., high-level officials, expert consultants, and other project partners;
  • Strong report writing skills, with outstanding attention to detail and a sense of thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency;
  • Strong command of MEL and G&D tools and methods;
  • Experience in community engagement and participatory processes;
  • Experience working on (local) governance, the rule of law, human rights, and democracy related issues;
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic; French is an asset.

Preferred

  • Experience working on community policing and security sector reform.

Your Tasks:

Under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator and in close coordination with the DRI team, you will be responsible for the following:

Content Creation (60%)
• Create visual materials that align with the creative direction and branding identity of DRI (visuals including infographics, 2D animated short videos, video interviews, and awareness/informative posts);
• Create engaging text, image, and video content for all social media platforms;
• Support the development of media relations (writing press materials and kits, drafting and editing commentary pieces, in English and Arabic, maintaining contacts with Lebanon-based and regional media professionals and outlets);

Communications (25%)
• Manage DRI Lebanon’s social media platforms by leading and executing content creation across DRI Lebanon’s digital communications, incl. preparing and implementing an integrated boosting and advertising budget/plan across the different projects;
• Support the implementation and further development of DRI’s social media and digital communications, strategy, campaigns, and tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, other social media tools including podcast platforms);
• Support DRI’s reporting on activities and knowledge products in the form of news and feature stories;
• Monitor, track, and report on online reviews of DRI Lebanon’s social media platforms;
• Support the knowledge management of DRI’s media outputs for Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) purposes, e.g., success stories, photos, videos, events, press releases, updated stakeholders list, DRI mailing list;

Project Management Support (15%)
• Support the preparation, implementation and follow-up of online and offline project activities including support to concept notes, agenda, invitation letters, participant lists, evaluation materials, and general administrative tasks;
• Contribute to internal and donor reporting through writing and researching for weekly, monthly, and narrative reports;
• Support quality control, including copywriting and proofreading of print and online outputs;

Required:

  • University degree in Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Visual Communication, Audiovisual Arts, or equivalent;
  • 3 years of experience in content creation, graphic design, branding/corporate identity, typography, 2D animation, videography, video editing;
  • Experience in digital marketing and social media, web design, and social media platforms management (Facebook Ads and business management, Google Ads);
  • Ability to write engaging media content for a variety of audiences;

Under the overall supervision of the Finance Officer or their assigned representative, the Human Resources and Administration Associate will support the team to ensure that the country office meet all donor requirements, Sri Lankan legal requirements as well as DRI internal policies and procedures related to human resources and administration.

 

Your Tasks:

Human Resources

  • Support the team with recruitment of candidates for open positions in coordination with Programme Director, collection of timesheets and human resources related statutory compliances;
  • Assist in preparation of contracts and contract amendments, and employment and work certificates;
  • Maintain experts contract database and update the team with changes and expiry with the expert contracts;
  • Follow up HR processes (e.g. onboard and offboarding processes) and mapping this in DRI’s HR Management Software Personio.

Administration

  • Support the finance and procurement team with the administrative tasks including receiving invoices, documentations, bank deposits etc.;
  • Assist the team in organizing meetings, events and workshops in Colombo as well as at district level;
  • Develop an electronic and physical filing system for administrative and financial records. Electronic filing will be done with SharePoint in the future.

  • University degree in finance, accounting, business administration / commerce;

DRI is currently recruiting a full-time Finance, HR and Administration Coordinator for its Country Office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Under the overall supervision of the Programme Director or his assigned representative, the Finance, HR and Administration Coordinator will ensure that the country office and management of project funds, meet all donor requirements, Sri Lankan legal requirements, German bookkeeping requirements as well as DRI internal policies and procedures, including procurement, recruitment and human resources, reporting, and legal matters. The Finance, HR and Administration Coordinator will be responsible to line-manage a finance and administration team of two staff.

 

Your Tasks:

Compliance

  • Ensure that the DRI Sri Lanka office meets all donor requirements, Sri Lanka legal requirements, German bookkeeping requirements as well as DRI internal regulations;
  • Draft and oversee implementation of all administrative policies, procedures and templates;
  • Prepare documentation for external audits and expenditure verification, including evidence of payments, procurement and activities as well as compiling the audit samples as required.

 

Finances and donor reporting

  • Be responsible for the monthly financial reports to DRI Headquarters and budget monitoring;
  • Forecast cashflow requirements and prepare monthly wire transfer requests;
  • Prepare (activity-based) budgets, budget amendments and donor financial reports as per donor requirements;
  • Manage the local bank accounts and process payments (cash and bank) and prepare all accounting records;
  • Manage the partners assessment process according to DRI’s policy;
  • Provide training and financial guidance to subgrantees and project partners and oversee controlling of their financial reports and payment requests;
  • Ensure that all invoices and receipts are collected, classified and stamped in accordance with the structure of the budget and DRI cost centre;
  • Oversee procurement processes and ensures accurate procurement documentation;
  • Act as a main contact person for financial and administrative external stakeholders (bank, lawyers, state authorities regarding office registration, sub-grantees).

Human Resources

  • Support the team with recruitment of candidates for open positions in coordination with Head Office, the approval and signature of timesheets, payroll preparations and payroll related statutory compliances;
  • Preparation of contracts and contract amendments;

Management

  • Manage the DRI Sri Lanka office, including rentals/landlord relations, fixtures and

Administration

DRI is currently recruiting a full-time Programme Officer Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) for its country office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This position will also provide oversight to all phases of project implementation in close collaboration with Programme Coordinator and include outreach responsibilities.

 

Your Tasks:

Project MEL Responsibilities:

  • Develop a M&E framework for DRI’s projects with the aim to assess and make visible DRI’s impact in Sri Lanka;
  • Review project concept notes and provide technical input for high quality activity implementation in line with DRI’s overall M&E framework;
  • Lead on the implementation of MEL project check-in points including proposal design workshops, project kick-off workshops, mid-term reviews, final evaluations, lessons learned, reporting;
  • Assist with capacity and needs assessments of project partners;
  • Lead on the communication, and follow-up with DRI’s implementing partners to ensure timely implementation of project activities, cooperation and reporting;
  • Develop, pilot, implement, and periodically revise M&E data collection and project tools such as Work Plan/M&E Plan along with an Indicators Tracker as well as baselines, pre-/ post-tests, feedback forms, interviews etc.;
  • In cooperation with the Gender and Diversity focal point, ensure gender and diversity are considered in all aspects of work in the project;
  • In close coordination with Communications Officer, ensure the visibility and outreach of DRI and the relevant project activities;
  • Ensure ongoing accurate data collection against DRI standards and storing of M&E data collected during the project, also by liaising and coordinating with DRI’s project team;
  • Coordinate the recruitment of external MEL experts such as for final evaluations.

Technical MEL Programming Support:

  • In coordination with the Strategic Management Advisor, develop concept notes and programme intervention strategies for DRI;
  • Provide internal capacity building on MEL for DRI project colleagues as well as DRI’s project partners;
  • Draft and exchange lessons learned with MEL Focal Points across the organisation to promote learning and knowledge exchange, including delivery of in-house sessions as and when needed;
  • Provide strategic advice to the Programme Director and HQ MEL Focal Point on design and implementation of the project framework and activities to prominently position DRI in the democracy support community in Sri Lanka and globally;
  • Coordinate with DRI colleagues locally and in HQ for country and global reporting;
  • Advise DRI’s finance unit on MEL budgeting.

 

Your Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • University degree in social science, international development, or other relevant fields;
  • At least 4 years of work experience in the international development sector and/or policy related work in a MEL/ programme management capacity;
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks and tools;
  • Familiarity with programme development and strategic outreach;
  • Proficient IT skills, able to create templates in word and do tabulations in excel;

DRI is currently recruiting a full-time Social Media Analyst (Sri Lanka) for its country office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In collaboration with, and under supervision of the Programme Coordinator, you will conduct social media monitoring, to unveil disinformation, hate speech and other phenomena spread on social media, especially in the context of Sri Lanka’s upcoming elections and around major ongoing political reform projects in the country.

 

Your Tasks:

  • Assess, together with DRI’s HQ Social Media team, programme experts, partners and DRI’s Sri Lanka team the feasibility of the research regarding data access and social media platforms in Sri Lanka, conduct contextual analysis and literature reviews and conceptualize the theory of change to develop the research plan;
  • Prepare, code, and monitor the scraping of relevant data during the monitoring period, ensuring data reliability and retention, in close coordination with the coders and programme experts supporting the analysis;
  • Develop the classification and coding system of data for relevant research questions and prepare an efficient system for hand-annotation of data in line with DRI’s methodology and guidelines;
  • Co-facilitate the social media awareness/literacy workshops and briefings for targeted stakeholders, in cooperation with HQ’s Social Media team, programme experts, partners, DRI’s district and national coordinators, prepare presentations and present the findings and recommendations from DRI’s social media analyses;
  • Present DRI work and findings in relation to social media monitoring at DRI sharing sessions and at public events held online and offline;
  • Analyse data and produce visualizations to communicate insights, and findings, as well as develop recommendations;
  • Produce written reports and collaborate with programme experts to verify the correct depiction of monitoring findings;
  • Assist the team with identifying resources for social media analyses and assist in data collection for monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) processes related to the social media analyses activity under various projects and, provide input for communications as requested;

What You Bring to the Role:

You should have specific expertise in the area of digital issues, especially social media, and democracy. Expertise in business development and fundraising would be an asset. Your expertise would complement other fields of expertise on the board, such as diplomacy, politics, management, finances and law.  You should have a firm commitment to democracy and political pluralism.

You must be fluent in English. Additional languages are an asset. You should be willing and able to travel to Berlin once per year.

Your Tasks:

The organisation supports the building of democracies through public debates, participation and accountable policymaking, and helps defending democratic governance.

In the MENA region, DRI has been accompanying democratic processes in various countries since 2008. With three country offices in Tunisia, Lebanon and Libya, DRI benefits from solid comparative knowledge on governance processes in the region and an extensive network of national experts and partner organisations. Since 2017, DRI has been increasingly active in the field of social media monitoring (SMM), strengthening local capacities to monitor social media during elections, creating evidence in different countries, gathering expert organisations, producing methodologies and informing the public and expert debate.

In the framework of the project “Countering Disinformation and Hate Speech in the MENA”, DRI will seek to contribute to strengthened safeguarding of democratic processes and society’s resilience to disinformation and hate speech in the region. DRI will work with partner organisations from five countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia), strengthening local capacities to monitor and analyse disinformation and hate speech during key national democratic processes, while building a regional network to allow for comparative analysis and peer learning. The project also seeks to raise awareness of decision makers, tech companies, and civic target groups on the project’s findings, while developing national and regional recommendations (including possible regulation) to combat online disinformation and hate speech.

Under the supervision of the North Africa Representative, and in close collaboration with the Project Coordinators and DRI HQ’s Digital Democracy team, you will be supporting the Social Media Analyst in their work while leading on the technical matters related to social media monitoring (SMM). This includes supporting the capacity strengthening of partners, support of partners in developing SMM methodologies and analysis frameworks, and the production of regional SMM reports.

 

Your Tasks:

  • Contribute to the capacity-development of CSO partners in social media monitoring (trainings, on-going support) in close cooperation with the Social Media Analyst and DRI HQ’s SMM team, including on-site training if the circumstances allow;
  • Contribute to the Social Media Analyst’s support to partners in developing of SMM methodologies and analysis frameworks;
  • Advise partners on access to social media data, coding, and monitoring of relevant data during SMM monitoring periods, including the development of data classification and coding schemes for relevant research questions and efficient manual data annotation systems; while ensuring data reliability and retention;
  • Support the design and production of regional SMM reports, leading on related data visualisation Ensure gender and diversity mainstreaming in the design of methodologies and analysis frameworks, and in the review of reports;
  • Assist Project Coordinators and CSO partners to develop data management tools for monitoring and evaluation purposes;
  • Contribute to development of public policy recommendations on oversight and regulation of social media;

Your Skills and Experience:

     Required:

  • University degree in statistics, computer science, open-source intelligence (OSINT) or other relevant field. OR: At least three years of relevant training and experience in social media monitoring and analysis, data analytics, or other relevant field can make up for the lack of a formal degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in data analysis for politics or social issues or data journalism;
  • Experience working with relevant tools/APIs to collect data from social media;
  • Knowledge of a programming language to analyse and produce data visualizations from large, unstructured datasets (Python, R, etc.);
  • Native-level fluency in Arabic, working-level fluency in English;
  • Willingness to travel to countries of operation, if circumstances and security allow;
