Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. Democracy Reporting International promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions world-wide.
With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office, Democracy Reporting International (DRI), the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) and ForSet are implementing a project “Strengthening political pluralism in Georgia – Phase III”. The aim of the project is foster an impartial facts-based debate on extreme political polarisation among Georgian civil society, media and the wider public.
As part of its efforts, DRI is looking for an analyst to research and prepare a list of tools used in different countries which aim to reduce/prevent or raise awareness on the issue of extreme political polarisation. The aim of the analysis is to create a comprehensive list which can be further applied in the Georgian context by civil society, media, etc
Description of assignment and responsibilities
The project is currently seeking the services of an analyst to suggest the format and prepare the analysis. The expert is expected to:
- Work with DRI’s Program Officer, GYLA and ForSet to develop the analysis on technical and communications tools which can be used to reduce/prevent/raise awareness about extreme political polarization, considering examples of other countries.
- Provide DRI with a report on the key findings and takeaways from the assignment and recommendations for future action.
Qualifications
- Experience in conducting analysis in the field of political or social sciences
- Studies in political sciences, international relations, media or related field
- Good knowledge and understanding of Georgia’s political context are an asset
- Demonstrated political awareness and analytical skills
- Proven presentation skills
- Fluency in English and Georgian
Duration of the assignment
The expert will be contracted for the period from February – June. The working days will include home-based desk work.
Deliverables and indicative timelines
An indicative timeline for the assignment is provided in the table below, however, it is subject to change based on planning and consultation with DRI, GYLA and ForSet:
